Trust help for Ukrainian children

Arrochar and Tarbet Community Development Trust, via one of its Directors Maria Jemicz, recently hosted a visit by 25 children from Ukraine, all of whom had lost their fathers as a result of the conflict. The children, aged 10-15, were staying with foster families across Scotland as part of a trip organised by the charity 'Children of War', which aims to let the children escape the horrors of war, at least for a while.

Maria, whose father was Ukrainian, heard of the forthcoming visit and offered to help. The children were treated to a home-cooked lunch in the 3 Villages Hall, followed by a boat trip on Loch Lomond. They thoroughly enjoyed their day, and rated it as the highlight of their whole trip - apparently better than Edinburgh Zoo, and even better then KFC!

Maria and the Trust would like to thank all the people who helped to make the day so successful, including Melanie Tonks, Martha Kelly, Rhona Macfarlane, Chris Fowler, Angela McKell and Jean Cearns, and also Cruise Loch Lomond for providing the boat trip.
